How Brisbane Custom Drumsticks Began

Hi, I’m Glenn — an amateur drummer, just like most of you.

I started playing drums young, trained professionally for several years, played in bands, and later became a drum teacher. But like many drummers, life got busy. Work, family, neighbours, sleeping kids — the biggest problem became volume.

Practising on an acoustic kit was simply too loud. Like most players, I tried muting kits, dampeners, mesh heads, and expensive noise-reduction products. They either killed the sound, felt terrible to play, limited technique, or cost more than the drum kit itself.

While teaching drums, I realised this wasn’t just my problem. Many players had stopped progressing — or stopped playing altogether — because they couldn’t practise properly at home.

So I did what I’d always done in my career: I looked for a better solution.

Instead of changing what you play on, I focused on changing what you play with.

After years of testing and prototyping in my workshop, I developed wooden, normal-sized drumsticks that reduce attack and volume while keeping the natural feel, rebound, and sound of an acoustic kit. Sticks that let you play properly — rimshots, cross-sticks, cymbal bells — and still easily control your playing volume for everyone around you.

There’s no such thing as silent drumming, but there is a smarter way to control volume.

l knew if I needed this solution others would too.

Happy drumming,
Glenn
